There is a new recruitment opportunity in the state of Assam as the Inspector General of Prisons has advertised the job vacancies for as many as 71 number of posts available in 6 different designations to be engaged in the Jail Department under Govt. of Assam. As such, all the intending & eligible candidates may apply in standard form for any of the following vacancies which are listed in the table given below.

The age limit criteria prescribed for this Recruitment in Jail Department under Govt of Assam is 18-38 years for the post of Warden and 21-38 years for rest of the vacancies as on 1st January 2012. In addition to these requirements, there are few other eligibility criteria as well such as educational qualifications and physical standard. The necessary educational qualification are as follows:-

The candidates seeking employment for the post of Assistant Jailor and Warden will also have to meet the prescribed physical standards which have been listed in the advertisement notification published in this connection.

The qualified candidates shall have to appear in physical fitness test of walking 5kms in 1hour time.

Recruitment in Jail Department, Assam - How to apply?

Interested candidates may obtain the standard form as published in Part IX of Assam Gazette and submit their application in that format so as to reach the office of the Inspector General of Prisons, Assam, Khanapara, Guwahati-781022 latest by 21st December 2012. Each application must be accompanied with 2 copies of recent passport size photograph of the candidate with his/her signature at the top and duly attested by a Gazetted Officer and one self addressed envelope of size 23x10cm with Rs.5/- postal stamp affixed on it.

Applicants will also have to submit the attested copies of Employment Exchange Registration Certificate, Age Proof Certificate, Caste Certificate, Certificates and marksheet of essential & desirable qualifications and discharge certificate for the Ex-serviceman. Candidates must make sure that their applications are complete in all respect and reaches the specified office on or before the last date.

Candidates must clearly mention the post applied for on top of the envelope containing the application form and its enclosures. Only one candidature for the post of either Assistant Jailor or Junior Assistant shall be entertained. The candidates may be called for written test/interview on dates to be notified later and they will have to appear in such exams at their own expenses.
