Government of Assam, Senior Secondary Education Department has issued the latest advertisement of Teachers Eligibility Test to be conducted for Secondary Education in the state and has thereby made available some important information in this regard for all the interested and eligible candidates. TET Assam 2012-13 for Graduate Teachers in Secondary Schools is scheduled to be held on February 2013 and will accordingly be the first batch of the said examination in this category.You may find in this article the overview of the details pertaining to eligibility criteria, application forms, vacancies and other relevant facts.

Based on the tentative schedule as listed above, all the intending candidates may proceed with the application procedure and accordingly prepare themselves for this upcoming TET Graduate Teacher Exam (Secondary Education) in Assam.
The eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification are prescribed as detailed below. This includes requirements as per Substituted Schedule II.
- Graduate Teachers: 50% marks in BA/BSc/BCom with B.Ed/B.T.
- Hindi Teachers: 50% marks in BA with Hindi as one of the subject or in Pravin/Ratna (Hindi) having degree qualification and B.Ed/B.T.
- Classical Teacher (Sanskrit): 50% in Sashtri having degree qualification or in BA with Sanskrit as one of the subject and B.Ed/B.T. degree.
- Classical Teacher (Arabic/Persian/Urdu etc): MM with 50% marks having degree qualification or 50% in BA with Arabic as one of the subject and B.Ed/B.T. degree from any recognized university.
- Classical Teacher (Assamese/Manipuri Language): BA with Honours/ Major in concerned subject with 50% mark and B.Ed/B.T. degree.
The above educational qualifications are prescribed as per the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised) Service (Amendment) Rules 2012. Further it may be noted here that the applicants are relaxed from having B.Ed./B.T. degree as mandatory prerequisite upto 01/01/2015 and as such those who do not have such qualifications may also apply to this TET Exam 2012-13 subject to fulfillment of all other criteria and the prescribed academic qualifying marks.

The TET Exam Assam 2013 for Secondary Education will have two papers each carrying 100 marks and equal number of multiple choice questions in the subject matter of General Studies & Current Affairs and Pedagogy & General English. The detailed syllabus for the same will be made available after 15th September 2012. Candidates may apply by obtaining the application form from any of the designated post offices available for the purpose by paying Rs.350/- as fee.
It must be kept in mind that qualifying in the Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) for Secondary Education is mandatory for appearing in any graduate teacher recruitment in the state. It does not however guarantee employment to the post of teacher. The pass marks for this examination is 60% but candidates belonging to the category of SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) are relaxed by 5%.
