Joint Lateral & MCA Entrance Examination 2012 by Directorate of Technical Education

A couple of Entrance Examination is scheduled to be conducted in the state under Directorate of Technical Education Assam for admission to various courses for the session 2012-13. Accordingly announcement was made recently for Joint Lateral Entrance Examination 2012 and Joint MCA Entrance Examination 2012 by DTE Assam for admissions to B.E. 3rd Semester in various disciplines and MCA courses in selected Government Engineering Colleges of the state. The overview of these published notifications are explained below while the detailed information can be obtained as attachments included herewith.

Before we begin, let us inform our readers that this article is based on two separate advertisement regarding two different test and the various details like important dates, eligibility, application procedures, fee etc. are different for each of them. These information are given below under its respective heads.

Joint Lateral Entrance Examination 2012

This exam which is meant for candidates who are diploma holders from State Council of Technical Education Assam is offering an opportunity to seek admission as lateral entry to the 3rd Semester of engineering course (B.E.) in various disciplines as per availability of seats. To be eligible, the applicant must ensure that they have atleast 45% marks in the diploma exam under SCTE Assam in the relevant branch of engineering as listed in the table below:-

In addition, the applicant must be a citizen of Assam and must be able to produce Permanent Residential Certificate in support of it. The final year students of diploma courses are also eligible to apply provided that they will be able to produce their pass certificates at the the time of admission.

JLEE 2012 - Application and Selection Procedures

In order to apply, the candidates can obtain the application forms from the office of DTE or any of the participating colleges as mentioned above. Alternatively, one can also download it from its official website or from the attachment links given below. An application fee amounting to Rs.800/- will have to be paid by means of Bank Draft drawn in favour of The Director, Technical Education, Assam payable at Guwahati. The applicant need not enclose any supporting documents and only the application form along with the Bank Draft needs to be submitted in any of the issuing office such as DTE, AEC, JEC & JIST on or before the last date which is 1st June 2012. The admit cards can be collected by the applicant after submission of the form or can be requested through post by providing a self addressed envelope [25x12cm] with Rs.25/- stamp affixed on it.

The selection procedure involves two test - Common Paper and Branch Paper, each of which is objective type carrying 50 marks each. Selection will be done on merit by considering the total marks scored on both papers. Rest of the details can be seen from the attachment links as listed below.

Joint MCA Entrance Test 2012 Assam

Any interested candidate having the requisite eligibility and belonging to the age range of 20-26 years as on 01-07-2012 will be able to apply for admission to Masters in Computer Application in selected govt. engineering colleges of the state. The applicant has to be a graduate i.e. having 3 years Bachelor degree with Mathematics as one of the subject passed in the 10+2 level. The minimum cut-off percentage in the qualifying degree examination is prescribed as 50% marks. A Joint Admission Test will be conducted for selection purpose which will consist of Mathematics (10+2), Aptitude Test of Reasoning and English carrying 40, 35 & 25 marks respectively. The test will be objective type with MCQ question and will be held for 3hrs duration as per following schedule:-
