National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Exam (NMMS) 2011-12 is announced in Assam by the Directorate of the Secondary Education and has accordingly asked for applications from students who are currently studying in 8th standard to apply for the same and send their applications in this regard. This scholarship in Assam is mainly focused and intended to benefit the meritorious students coming from the economically weaker section of the society. As such this financial assistance in the form of scholarships to students of Class VIII will be awarded till Class XII (or a period of 4 years) considering some eligibility criteria and various other facts to the qualifying candidates of NMMS 2011-12 Exam which will be conducted in the state on the month of November 2011.


Eligibility Criteria for NMMS 2011-12 Exam Scheme

In order to avail the National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship, the concerned students have to appear before a qualifying exam for getting selected. But before doing so and sending their application, they have to ensure that they fulfill few requirements that are considered mandatory under NMMS Scheme:-

  • Annual income of parents/guardians should not be more than 1.5 lacs.
  • The applicants should be a student of either a Government school, local body schools or otherwise a Government aided school to be eligible.
  • Applicants must have scored an aggregate marks of 55% in Class VII

Application Forms of NMMS 2011-12 Examination

The selection test of NMMS Exam will be conducted along with the First Stage examination for NTS Scheme by making use of the same question paper set. The application forms will be available in the office of Director of Secondary Education in Kahilipara (Guwahati) as well as also with the Inspector of Schools in all concerned districts of Assam. There will be examination centers located within every District Headquarters and may be further extended or reduced depending on the number of students appearing in the selection test.

NMMS 2011-12 Exam Fee and Important Dates

The fee for National Means Cum-Merit Scholarship Exam is fixed at Rs.75 for General category applicants and Rs.50 for SC and ST candidates. It must be deposited in the Bank account of 'National Talent Search Examination' having Account No.30294941517 Bank SBI, Kahilipara Branch. The original receipt of the bank deposit of the fee must be enclosed along with the application forms. The exam will be held on 20th day of November 2011 and the last date of submitting application is 31.08.2011. Admit cards to all the eligible candidates will be issued and provided within 2-3 days before the scheduled exam date.
