Introducing: Assam Trends | Latest: TET Assam Recruitment November 2014 | Check: Assam Government Holiday List 2014

Last week we have come across many people who had been asking about possible ways to check PF balance online. Their query was regarding the search for online sources which allows to check the balance of their PF accounts through websites or web portals. It had been almost impossible earlier to get such a service through online methods and as such checking details regarding one's Provident Fund accounts was not possible. However, the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has taken the initiative to allow members to check their up-to-date EPF Balance online through their official website. Accordingly, all employees or members of EPFO can avail their new service to know their EPF balance through the convenience of few clicks only. This facility was made available on 01.07.2011.

Although there is now an option to check the total balance of Employees Provident Funds, the feature is not available in all office circles as of now and only seven offices are listed in its official website to facilitate such a convenience. The data as of now is available only for offices located within certain specific areas in India such as Delhi (North), Delhi (South), Laxmi Nagar (Delhi), Gurgaon, Faridabad, Karnal and Bangalore. The list will be soon updated to include other office names and accordingly will be available for all members in the country in the coming days. The reports generated through this service also includes other important and up-to-date details such as all the latest transactions (if any) related to advances, transfer in/out and settlement.

Before introduction of this new feature, EPFO had only the option to let users know about the claim status which can be checked by simply feeding the Office Name and Employee PF Account Number to get the required information. The new inclusion of EPF Balance Checking in the Employees Provident Fund Organization website can now be made use of to get the current balance through SMS on mobile phone in the number that is submitted while going through the procedure in the website [ www.epfindia.com ].

In order to use it, you will simply need to have a couple of information on hand such as the EPFO office name where your PF Account is maintained and the account number. If you are aware of the extension number of the account, it may also be needed while submitting the form to get the required information. Few personal details will be asked such as your name and mobile number which will be kept stored in their records along with the A/C Number before sending the details in the form of text message to the mobile number specified.
