Dibrugarh University in Assam has been offering a very promising One year Post Graduate (P.G.) Diploma in Tea Technology and Plantation Management (PGDTTPM) course in consultation with Tea Industries since the year 2007 and as such has now put forward a notification regarding the admission to the new session which is to start from the month of August 2011. The forms of the PGDTTPM diploma course is currently being issued and one can obtain them till 21st July 2011 which also happens to be the last date of submission of completed application forms. Eligibility Criteria for PGDTTPM AdmissionThe requirements which are to be fulfilled by the applicants in order to be eligible for seeking admission to the said PG Diploma in Tea Technology and Plantation Management can be found below as suggested by the department:-
- Since it is a post graduate diploma, one needs to have a valid graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university and at the same time he/she must have also scored a minimum percentage marks of 40% in Major and 45% in total aggregate. The OBC and SC/ST candidates can however avail the relaxation of marks which allows 5% less than the standard requirement as applicable for General category of students.
- Those students who have recently appeared in the Final examination of their Bachelor degree examinations can also apply but the condition remains that they must be able to produce the certificates at the time of admission and must also score the minimum required marks as required to pursue the Two semester PGDTTPM diploma course.
Procedure and Dates for PGDTTPM AdmissionApplication forms and Prospectus of PG Diploma in Tea Technology and Plantation Management course can be obtained from the office of Centre for Tea and Agro Studies on payment of Rs.300 in cash or otherwise via a Demand Draft which can be drawn in favour of Registrar, Dirugarh University which must be payable at the State Bank of India, Dibrugarh University Branch (Code No.2051). Forms can also be downloaded online from the official website and in such a case the fee must be paid as DD while submitting the same. The completed forms can be submitted on or before the last date i.e. 21.07.2011 and the filled-in admission forms must be accompanied with all the attested copies of the relevant documents which must be submitted to Director,i/c, Centre for Tea and Agro Studies, Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh 786004.
All eligible applicants will then need to appear before an entrance test which will be conducted for 50 marks in Written Test and another 50 marks in interview/group discussion. The duration of exam will be 1hour 30mins and will be held on 24th July, 2011. The question papers will be set according to the subject matters on general awareness, test of reasoning, quantitative aptitude and basic knowledge on tea and related industry. There will be a total of 16 seats available for admission out of which 12 will be open for merit, 2 endowment and 2 sponsored seats. The course fee for the Post Graduate Diploma in Tea Technology and Plantation Management under Dibrugarh University amounts to Rs.20,000 per semester and an one time fee of Rs.30,000 for Endowment seats and Rs.40,000 for Sponsored seats.
Results for PGDTTPM entrance test will be declared on 26th July, 2011 and interviews as well as group discussions will be held on 3rd August, 2011. On 05.08.2011, the results will be announced and the final list will be disclosed off following which admission will take place on 10th August 2011. The regular classes will commence from 16th of August 2011 and all enrolled students can attend them on the university campus.
