Masters of Computer Application (MCA) admission 2011 in Assam is being offered by many institutes, college or universities such as Assam Engineering College (AEC), North Eastern Regional Institute of Management (NERIM) and many others within the state. Recently, Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) has also announced the admission for its three years MCA programme which is offered as a regular full-time course. This post graduate degree course is affiliated under the Gauhati university of Assam and has also got the necessary approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in order to conduct such a course. Located in Hathkhowapara (Azara) in Guwahati, GIMT has established itself as one of the best educational destination which has been imparting high standards and quality education in all its departments since its inception in 2006. It is an institute which is under the Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) of Assam that has been existing since 1992 as the first Junior College of the state.


Eligibility Criteria and Selection Procedure in GIMT Guwahati


GIMT has issued a notification regarding the admission for the MCA degree for the new session of 2011-2014 and as such also highlighted the various requirements that will be taken into consideration for determining a students eligibility and selecting him for admission. As for the eligibility, the applicant has to be a graduate in any discipline and must have a score of 50% for unreserved and 45% in case of reserved candidates in either the Major or aggregate marks. In addition, the applicant needs to have Mathematics as one of its subject in the Higher Secondary (H.S.) level so as to be considered fit for the course. Students who have recently appeared in the graduation final exam may also apply and the underlying condition for such applicants is that they must be in a position to produce the certificates of the said examinations before 31st day of August 2011 in order to be considered for admission.

The Department of Computer Application of Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) will be conducting a selection test or more precisely an admission test based on which admission will be allowed and the same will be held on 6th June 2011. Applicants would also be able to avail scholarship for MCA course as per the rules set by GIMT Assam.

MCA Admission Forms & Prospectus of GIMT Guwahati


The admission forms and prospectus for MCA Admission (2011-14) can be obtained from its campus at Azara and a fee of Rs.500 has to be paid in cash for the same. Alternatively, one can also download the forms and prospectus and avail all other details from the official website www.gimt-guwahati.ac.in. In case of using the downloadable application forms, you will need to pay the fee of Rs.500 in the form of Demand Draft which must be drawn in favor of Shrimanta Shankar Academy and must be payable at Guwahati. The forms and prospectus are issued from the 31st March, 2011 and are available for all interested students willing to take admission in MCA degree. Counselling and admission will be held on the 3rd week of July 2011 whereas the classes for the said programme will commence from the 1st week of August 2011.

It must be noted here that those students who have secured marks above 60% in the graduation examinations will be given some preference while making selection for admission to the Master of Computer Application course in GIMT.
