Mrignayana - Sanskrit edition of the evergreen Assamese songs launched

A new Audio CD named 'Mrignayana' was released in the Guwahati Press Club recently on 13th day of March 2011 which is said to be the Sanskrit version of some of the evergreen songs belonging to Assamese and Bengali music titles in original. These includes the songs composed and voiced by some of the noted personalities of Assam like Srimanta Sankardeva, Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Rabindra Nath Thakur and Dr.Bhupen Hazarika. Being presented in Sanskrit language, it is expected that the said music album may enhance and promote the historical language to a significant extent and also turn out to be a great contribution to this cultured language.

The said Music CD 'Mrignayana' was unveiled by Dr. Ashok Kr. Goswami who is the H.O.D. (Ex.) of Sanskrit Department, Gauhati University and had accordingly described this event as a stepping stone to the upliftment and popularization of Sanskrit language among the common masses. This new album is being presented by Ranjan Bezbarua who is also popular for his previous edition of similar Sanskrit Dubbed music album Manmohini which featured various songs of Sankardeva and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. The various songs included in Mrignayana are He maa jasuda, Rimjhim borokhun, Manuhe manuhor babe, Ekla chalo re, Ulahore nasi bagi, Aji mandiror duwar, Madhudanabdaran, Gunmala, Birahan lage, Mrignayna, Madhuram etc.

The music is directed by Pranjal Barua while Ranjan, Krishna and Kauravi had laid their voice in the different songs included in the album. The said CD album is being sponsored by Aircel and produced by Sikhla Communication and the CD is being dedicated to Indologist and Sanskrit scholar Dr. Mukunda Madhav Sharma.

People who were present in the launch event includes Film Director Surya Hazarika, Director of Cultural Affairs (Assam) Sankar Prasad Kakoti Bora, Mayur Bharali from Aircel, Dr. Anjan Jyoti Choudhary, Dr. Surya Das and many other designated people who attended and also delivered a speech thereon. On the same occasion, few people including Film Producer Paran Barbaruah, Artist Samar Hazarika, Prithviraj Rabha and Ratimohan Nath has also been felicitated with an Assamese Gamosa.
