The Barpeta is a famous district of Assam where a lot of Satras and Tourist places is located covering a geographical area of 2645 square kilometer and 140 kilometer away by road from the capital city Guwahati. The total population of Barpeta district is 18,64,328 and the literacy rate of the same is around 45.69%. The major tribes found here are  usually the Boro and Rabha.

The Barpeta district has 8 Assembly constituency i.e. Barpeta, Baghbor, Bhawanipur, Jania, Patacharkushi, Sarbhog, Sarukhetri, and Chenga while it has only one Parliamentary constituency i.e. Kokrajhar (Part).
